Revolutionary bioplastic manufactured from manure
T-shirts, books, plastic cups: we usually have to burden the environment for these kinds of products. This is all about to change. Jalila Essaïdi, a 35-year-old Eindhoven designer and entrepreneur, has in her search for solutions to major social issues found an answer to the manure problem. She has developed a revolutionary technology with which manure can be immediately transformed into bioplastic, biotextile and biopaper. Making manure a raw material for new products. Last week she presented Mestic® nationally and internationally through a haute couture fashion show. Ms Neelie Kroes was one of the guest speakers.

Smart solutions for the manure problem
Essaïdi has managed to completely deconstruct manure and to utilize the cellulose derived from this for new biomaterial products. This is how Essaïdi transforms manure into bioplastic, biotextile and biopaper. Her efforts feed the circular economy: the agricultural sector is able to meet all the international agreements, without losing their investment (the cows). At the same time, she has supplied the manufacturing industry with a sustainable raw material. And, however exceptional this already sounds, this is not where it ends. According to Essaïdi, the possibilities are infinite.

Mestic® fashion show has been made possible through cooperation between Suna Producties, The Municipality of Eindhoven, Inspidere B.V., Stichting BioArt Laboratories and Eindhoven365.
