Monitoring the North-South line

By 28-03-2022

In 2018, the new North-South metro line opened in Amsterdam. To assess the impact of the new line on the city and its commuters, Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute) and Technische Universiteit Delft conducted a four-year study: Monitoring the North-South line.

Clever°Franke transformed complex academic research data into a meaningful interactive experience. They developed a microsite, which shows how the implementation of the new metro line has changed the entire public transport structure. It also highlights how it improved the day-to-day life for public transport users in terms of accessibility and saved travel time.

Visualisations in the microsite are based on commuter data. Mirroring the physical metro line, the microsite reveals information as the visitor scrolls down the page, from north to south.

The microsite not only informs the public about the main changes, but also enables policymakers to make informed decisions and solve operational inefficiencies.
