Must See

By 29-03-2021

15 artists and designers give Dutch icons a new look.

The Must See exhibition in the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen is ready to open. From the moment that museums are once again open to the public until 24 October 2021, the Museum will be displaying no fewer than fifteen installations in the fields of art, design, fashion, graphic design, photography, new media and landscape art. The exhibition, which takes tourism as its starting point, allows visitors to look at well-known Dutch icons in a different way. Many icons such as traditional costume, clogs and fishing have their origins in the Zuiderzee region and have contributed to the typical image of the Netherlands abroad. The concept for the exhibition was conceived over a year ago and appears to be more topical than ever.

Participants and icons
Kars+Boom – cheese, Lex Pott – fishery, Leslie Nagel – mills, Bart Schalekamp – bicycles, Bastiaan de Nennie – flowers, Elmo Vermijs – Dutch skies, Lisa Konno – clogs, Das Leben am Haverkamp – costume, Boris Maas – water, Maze de Boer – cows, Dana Dijkgraaf – postcards, Sander Wassink – cleanliness, Suzan Hijink – souvenirs, Jólan van der Wiel – dykes, Folkert Koelewijn and Teuntje Fleur – tourist attractions.
