New corporate identity Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen

By 27-10-2020

1,664 reflecting panels cover the surface of the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. This Depot (popularly known as De Pot) is the first in the world that offers access to a complete collection. The dynamics of the depot are different from those of the museum: no exhibitions are created here, but you can – on your own or with a guide – view the collection which consists of 151,000 art objects. You can also attend, for example, the conservation and restoration.

Thonik signed up for the new corporate identity of the Depot which will be rolled out further in the coming year.

After 12 years of successful communication with a three-line letter for Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the new identity for the Depot had to build upon this, but also to distinguish itself from it. The depot is a radiant building. Its reflection multiplies the environment. To emphasize this effect, more lines have been used in a new font that also contains fracture lines  following the grid of the mirrors.

For the robust building of concrete, mirrors and steel, a color palette of shades of gray and silver colors has been developed. The font forms the basis of ever-changing motion graphics.
