OBJECT Rotterdam 2018

By 09-02-2018

Image report by Leonne Cuppen

From Friday 9 to Sunday 11 February design fair OBJECT moves into the modern HAKA building and the worldfamous Euromast. The platform’s size and offer increases every year. This edition there are over 150 participants, well known names, famous labels, and many upcoming designers.

Architectural highlights
The fair is held at a new location, the characteristic HAKA building, near the lively Vierhavensgebied. The HAKA was designed in 1931 by the architects H.F. Mertens and J. Koeman. This year, a ticket for OBJECT includes a visit to the Rotterdam Euromast where visual artist Christie van der Haak for New Citizen Design presents an extraordinary installation.

Side program
The HAKA building is located near the port of Rotterdam, in between the Van Nelle factory and the city center. The busy Vierhavensgebied, where several wellknown design studios are to be found is around the corner. A studio visit program hosted by OBJECT offers the opportunity to take a look in the studios of Daan Roosegaarde, Wieki Somers, Richard Hutten, Sabine Marcelis and Studio Makkink&Bey. On Friday, a special reception is organized at Atelier van Lieshout.
