OBJECT Rotterdam – Atelier Artiforte

By 22-05-2022

The Rotterdam lighting brand Atelier Artiforte, founded in 1930, is back!

Relaunch during Object Rotterdam from 20-22 May 2022. After an almost 40 years absence, the iconic Atelier Artiforte shines a new light on contemporary interior design.

Last year, RSGA Design, the parent company of Rietveld Originals, Spectrum Design and the well-known Gelderland furniture brand, acquired the rights to produce all of lighting brand Atelier Artiforte’s designs. In the fifties and sixties, Henk Fillekes was the driving force behind the innovative designs that made Atelier Artiforte famous. Apart from Fillekes’ work, the collection includes designs by architects Kho Liang Ie and his teacher Johan Niegeman. In addition to classics by these designers, Atelier Artiforte is also launching well-known designs by Aldo van den Nieuwelaar among others, his TC-6 Circle Lamp being the most famous design. Later this year, innovative lighting by various contemporary Dutch designers will follow.

RSGA founder Titus Darley about Atelier Artiforte: ‘Designer David Derksen pointed us to the beauty of the designs of this special company. After a long search, we managed to track down all the rightful owners. We are expanding the collection of historical classics with various current designs by, for example, said David Derksen, Rick Tegelaar and Rachel Griffin. Atelier Artiforte is a perfect addition to the design brands in the RSGA portfolio.’

RSGA Design develops and manages interior- and regular design brands with a special origin. The Rietveld Originals, Spectrum Design, Gelderland and Atelier Artiforte brands produce timeless and sustainable design by more than 35 Dutch designers. The factory in Culemborg stands for responsible local production, care for its surrounding area and the environment.

Atelier Artiforte was founded in Rotterdam, in 1930. In the fifties, traditional lampshades made way for clear and transparent lighting designs. David Derksen, Titus Darley, Cindy Verhoeven and Remco van der Voort took the initiative to bring the historical lighting collection back into production. Atelier Artiforte B.V. is an RSGA Design subsidiary.
