Office BNO Amsterdam

By 06-06-2018

VEVS has been asked to create a surprising, no-nonsense and functional working environment for the new office of the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO). With a limited budget and in close consultation with the customer, they realized an appropriate interior. The BNO moved from large to small and wanted to reuse the interior – the workplaces, tables, chairs and cabinets. A clear recognizable own signature has been added to these existing elements.

The BNO stands for 2D and 3D – from graphic to product and interior design – and this formed the starting point for the design, which was laid out in an abstract way in a spatial composition of lines and planes.

In the multifunctional space, the open kitchen and the bar are like a ‘monolith’ entirely carried out in soft pink. This gives the kitchen a place of its own in the open space, as if it is sunk into the hull. The glass fronts that separate spaces and functions here are divided into geometric planes and put in a slender black profile. They create the illusion that black lines have been placed in the space within which some surfaces have been colored.

In the office space, the side panels and the temporary workplaces at the head of the office islands are carried out in the same color pink. As they have been removed away a bit from the desks, a spatial play of lines and planes is created here too. The fabric panels for tactility, touchability and depth in yellow mélange or soft pink give warmth to the bare architecture of the old Wilhelmina Gasthuis.
