Introducing curators Simone Kramer and Petra Janssen – Foundation Social Label

Social label designs custom labor
Something beautiful and special emerges when people on the sidelines start cooperating with designers. The beautiful and valuable product that originates from this cooperation is called would Social label. Social label is the initiative of Petra Janssen (Studio Boot) and Simone Kramer (C-mone).

Social label is meant for people with, for example, a disability, psychological or addiction problems, long-term unemployed people, young school leavers. It is all about the pleasure of creating, taking part in society, learning craftsmanship, development with paid work as the ultimate appreciation. Foundation Social label encompasses more than making attractive design products for the public in cooperation with leading designers. Through making design products (with Piet Hein Eek, Roderick Vos, Dick van Hoff, Kiki van Eijk, Edwin Vollebergh, Borre Akkersdijk and others) we are building an appealing (working) environment and using the talents of people to create new opportunities. Working together for an economy that improves our society.

Notes to our selection
In addition to two initiatives that Studio Boot and C-mone are developing together, we have curated four special social design initiatives that go beyond an ‘independent project’ but are able to develop themselves socially sustainable ensuring that through the power of design and communication a really a new solution, system and/or way of thinking is ‘plugged in’ into society.
