Persian Poster Splendor

By 24-02-2018

The Iranian-Dutch Designer Alireza Siddighi (1967) shows approximately thirty of his unique posters in the Amstelkerk at the Amstelveld in Amsterdam.

Siddighi has been living in Tilburg since 1994. He was born in Tehran where he was trained as a graphic designer at the Academy of Fine Arts. His designs are usually related to cultural goals: festivals, theaters, museums or literary manifestations. He made many of them as a pitch for a commission, which sometimes, however, failed to materialize.

In 2007, the NRC newspaper wrote the following about a previous exhibition of his poster designs: ‘Siddighi reveals in the colors, shapes and grace his roots in the ancient Persian visual culture. The background colors are like cello music: ochre, old rose, olive green, dark or light blue. In the Netherlands, posters had never been made like this before’.
