Synergique: “The Amsterdam City Archive showcased a large collection of documents from Rembrandt van Rijn’s life. Elegantly handwritten in Old Dutch, they are hard to decipher for the modern-day reader. We used augmented reality to help visitors read these documents and to tell the myriad of stories connected to them.”

“Visitors can pick up a ‘Rembrandt viewer’ that will, when pointed to a document, reveal its story using a voice-over. Paintings, etchings and highlights from the document are shown hovering around, interacting with the document.”

“Apart from the application, we also designed a custom iPad case with the elderly visitors in mind. The ‘Rembrandt viewer’ is constructed from oak wood, charges wirelessly and has two headphone sockets for a shared experience.”

The exhibition ran between December 7th 2018 and April 7th 2019 and was visited by over 12.000 visitors.
