Project BLEND
The project BLEND is inspired by the fact that out of one and the same tree, different kinds of patterns and structures can be gained.
BLEND visualizes the effect of different sawing techniques to emphasize the woodgrain. By using a quarter sawing technique, woodgrains appear as stripes, whereas with a plain sawing technique, woodgrains appear as flames.
The design of BLEND shows wood in an unusual way by using both quarter and plain sawn timber. Also by playing with the inlay work and grain directions, the wood is shown from a surprising new perspective.
