Rising collection
Dutch designer Robert van Embricqs is fascinated by the aesthetically pleasing yet complex manifestation of the natural shape. He draws his inspiration from designs in the bone structure, plant transformation and movement. In each new research, one specific question always remains present: ‘to what extent do you allow the object that you create to create its own design?’
This leads to a minimalistic design approach that can best be described as a close collaboration between the designer and his material.
His design approach enabled the creation of the Rising collection, which consists of the Rising Chair, Rising Table + Side Table and the Rising Shell.
The products are designed through certain cuts and recesses in the material that enable them to take a shape of their own. We used small prototypes and computer models to attain the ideal shapes and enable them to continue to appeal to the imagination during and after the transformation.
