Sigrid Calon
Sigrid Calon’s work springs from the urge and the curiosity to explore, discover and create. She searches for amazement and draws inspiration from the things around her: materials, objects, situations or spaces.
Last year, Sigrid Calon created an installation for Uniqlo on 5th AV in New York. Sigrid: “To reinforce the launch of the new collection Super Geometric I was allowed a free hand in a series of notebooks, the mezzanine and the imposing and immense entrance.”
Another project in 2017 was a mural for the outdoor exhibition of museum De Lakenhal in Leiden. Sigrid: “It was a part of the Mondrian year and it shows how contemporary artists interpret abstract art. I made a combination of painting and stencil-paste work.”
The year ended with an exhibition during the Beijing Design Week. Sigrid: “There I showed, among other objects, the printed silk voiles with works from my first book and a special RISO Beijing Edition. I also gave a lecture at CAFA, China’s best Art Academy.”
