Mona Lisa’s www.monalisa-s.org

sparking creative consciousness by causing confusion

By 02-09-2021

How to make the right decisions in a world that is constantly changing? How do you remain agile as a person (within an organisation)? Being innovative and dealing with continuous change there are no standard recipes for it. You have to be able to improvise. Try and experience. Don’t fix thoughts, let them play. Using your imagination as a source of knowledge. With various working methods, performances and installations, Mona Lisa’s wants to ‘loosen up’ or at least confuse her audience. To arrive at a different perspective, alternative insights or fresh ways of thinking. Maybe a little weird but always helpful.

Mona Lisa’s is a Rotterdam based artist collective. Barry de Bruin and Kim de Groot form the central core with a soft shell of casual contributors (including Maarten Brandenburg and Birgit Bekker). The aim is to provoke new ideas and to make people aware of their personal influence on the situation. The projects serve as a supplement to the ‘normal’ course of business. They stimulate creativity on a personal level or nurture a desired culture within organizations. Mona Lisa’s sees her work as acupuncture (energy releasing pinpricks) for greater social improvements. Mona Lisa’s does this on its own account or on behalf of the National Police Unit, the Ministry of Defense and the Municipality of Rotterdam, among others.
