Storage Gate Light

By 27-09-2020

During the design process we have looked at elements of the existing architecture in the environment. The excellent volumes of the brick patterns and the decorative wall anchors are guiding elements for the chosen design. The central focus of the gate is the ‘storage gate light’. This luminous object is strongly inspired by the standard gate lights that you can see all over the world. We have reduced this standard form principle to its essence, and combined it with our way of designing. The stacked volumes ensure a stately object that arouses the interest and acts as an inviting gatekeeper.

The materials used for both the lamp and the gate have an image that suits a house situated near the sea. The soft colors also ensure that the gate is never an eyesore neither seen from the street side nor from the garden.

The materials that have been chosen ensure that over time the constructive integrity of the materials will not weather. Weather conditions such as the salty sea breeze lend the gate a beautiful natural patina. As a result, the ‘new’ feeling has disappeared, and the gate adapts itself more easily to its surroundings and the architecture around it.
