Strategic Brand Design
Brand and design, clients and designers, are closely linked. One cannot exist without the other. Yet the collaboration between the two still turns out to be quite difficult. That is why Roel Stavorinus wrote a book about it: Strategic Brand Design, designing from a marketing perspective. Strategic Brand Design is written for education and aimed at designers, but it is interesting for anyone responsible for the visual presentation of organizations and brands.
In the first chapter you will find the marketing concepts that you necessarily need to know if you are designing for brands. The second chapter describes the process of research and analysis, together with your client. And the third chapter shows you what design for brands must meet. There is a fourth chapter, but you’ll find it online. It describes the tools and methodologies you can use.
The book is richly illustrated and includes cases from renowned agencies such as thonik (Holland Festival and KRO-NCRV), …,state (The Student Hotel), Das Buro (Ketel1 Jenever and Mezz) and Silo (Unilever).
Illustrators Rob and Robin drew the illustrations of the marketing concepts, and information designer Karin Schwandt shaped the many models and diagrams.
