Street View

By 12-10-2021

Street View presents 21 video works with a contemplative, activist, social, poetic or slightly disruptive approach to public space. Each of the street projections offers a window to another city, country, or time. They show different customs and diverse perceptions of public space.

Empty shop windows in Maastricht become vistas onto streets, squares and parks in Johannesburg, Yogyakarta and Jakarta, Tirana and Durres, Medellín, Taipei, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, London, São Paulo, Seattle, Tehran and Isfahan, Cologne, Istanbul, Samara, Madrid, and Paris.

The street projections are in the thoroughfares of the central shopping district and the large Entre Deux shopping arcade between Vrijthof and Markt. During the month-long Street View exhibition, Entre Deux’s pedestrian passages are open especially for the public in the evenings. The videos can be viewed on the various floors of the shopping arcade.

Street View features work by: Jérôme Bucquet, Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques, Dries Depoorter, Sebastian Diaz Morales, Douwe Dijkstra, Jeroen Jongeleen, Karel van Laere, Siavash Naghshbandi, Paulien Oltheten, Su Tomesen, Kuang Yu Tsui, and students from Maastricht Academy of Arts.
