The Wheel for JAPTH

By 04-09-2020

Winner Sustainable Interior Design Award 2020

“Tough design based on sustainable, circular materials.” This is what the jury of the Sustainable Interior Design Awards said about Richard Hutten’s winning design for the new Dutch design collective repairable. Because the lamps are not glued, it is easy to disassemble and repair them. Therefore, the materials, which are made locally, remain valuable for next generations of lamps. Besides, JAPTH works with people with a distance from the labor market. The lamp fits perfectly with the trend that sustainable may also be beautiful”, says the jury.

Richard Hutten designed the Wheel for JAPTH, the new label of a collection of quirky LED lamps, which cooperates with well-known Dutch names, but also with young up-and-coming homegrown design talent. JAPTH’s current collection consists of designs by Hutten, Daphna Laurens, ByBelli and Yksi Design.

The brand was created because the many possibilities of LED technology often remain underexposed in the design of luminaires”, says co-founder Eduard Sweep (Yksi Design). “We break through this with a collection that exudes perfection, is produced responsibly in the Netherlands, and in which the possibilities of LED technology are leading. Hence JAPTH: Just a perfect thing.”

And that’s precisely what the jury thought about it.
