The Mogelijkheid collection

By 04-02-2018

Don Zweedijk: “One day, out of curiosity, I entered Het Malie Gilde. I had already noticed the place before and wondered what went on inside. It turned out to be a sheltered metal workshop, where anyone with poor job prospects can learn the craft of metalworking. After a nice conversation and a small tour of the premises I decided to join as a volunteer.”

“I was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge and technical skills of the men who worked there. Through working together and crafting together, a unique collaboration arose. This collaboration ultimately led to the Mogelijkheid collection [Possibility collection]. The collection evolved out of looking at possibilities and not at limitations. The ultimate goal is to challenge the makers of Het Malie Gilde and increase their chances of obtaining a steady paid job.”

“For this purpose a manufacturing process was developed that will stimulate them and even surprise them with their own abilities. This way, the manufacturing process is also a learning process, which centralizes the maker’s development. For example, the men of Het Malie Gilde were challenged to work very accurately and weld flawlessly.”

“Part of the revenue from each sold cabinet will go to its maker. This way, he is introduced to the client in an unforced manner and it ensures that he receives the recognition he deserves from the purchaser. Moreover, the maker will build up a portfolio, existing of pictures from the furniture he manufactured.”
