The Serving Trolley

By 27-03-2020

“The Serving trolley was made upon request of a private collector. It was inspired by classic racebikes and Hanoi (Vietnam) trash collection carts. Furthermore, craft and classic materials and techniques played a roll its creation.”

“After getting the commission I spent some months travelling in Vietnam, that’s where part of the inspiration came from. The other part was the passion for racebikes of the client. The design blends very well into the interior of the client’s house and reflects his personal tastes and interests (racebikes, design and drinking liquor in style).”

“After returning to the Netherlands I started to design the piece with my team here in Eindhoven. The stainless steel frame was 3D-bent by a specialized company. The trays were made by one of the last experts of this metal working craft in the Netherlands. The metal parts were assembled and welded by an expert craftsmen. The hinges and the lock were made especially by Herzig Mechanics. And, finally, the woodwork and assembly of the whole was done by myself.”
