A tribute to the Dutch stamp

By 07-10-2021

In this age of fast communication, a paper letter with a stamp is unnecessary in many ways. Yet for graphic designer Rick Jordens there is still an enormous charm to these ‘miniature paintings’. Wim Crouwel’s number stamps and Slothouber & Graatsma’s cube stamps made a deep impression on him in his younger years.

Rick is a designer from Berkel & Rodenrijs and has been involved in brand identities, graphic design and illustrations for the past twelve years. His work is very minimal in nature, oftentimes with simple geometric shapes and contrasting use of color.

The three stamp series are a personal project, born out of his passion for Dutch stamps, his love for modernism and the art movement De Stijl.
