Unfinished

By 29-11-2019

The designs of Charley Reijnders are best defined as hybrid design – an autonomous domain on the intersection between art, theatre and design.

Personal fascinations are translated into layered images and objects. Habbo Hotel, characters from a 14th century play, the slums of Calais; seemingly unrelated subjects overlapping in compiled images.

For the collection Unfinished, she has created settings around fictional characters. The items she has designed reveal parts of these characters, but the characters themselves are absent. As a spectator, you are challenged to get to know the character through the objects, but you will never know it in all its facets.
