Vertekend Beeld

By 10-11-2021

Moving Gallery presents ‘Vertekend Beeld’ (Distorted Image), a unique retrospective with the work of twelve leading illustrators who are known for their newspaper drawings.

For ‘Vertekend Beeld’, gallery owner Arnoud van Mosselveld and renowned illustrator Max Kisman selected twelve illustrators who have made a name for themselves in the Dutch and international media. Van Mosselveld: “It is a mix of established ‘world stars’, much sought-after top artists and rapidly emerging young talent. Think of Joost Swarte, who made the front page of the New Yorker several times, of Leonie Bos, known from the Volkskrant, Wallpaper and the New York Times, among others, or Paul Faassen (Volkskrant) but certainly also of a young and very successful illustrator like Jip van den Toorn.” According to the compilers, the selection could have been even larger. Moving Gallery therefore intends to make ‘Distorted Image’ an annual exhibition.

In the ‘Room of Forgotten Fame’ Moving Gallery pays homage to Frits Müller (1932-2006) who made the political drawings for, among others, NRC Handelsblad and the Haagse Post.
