Weer Toekomst

By 16-07-2016

‘Weer Toekomst’ (A New Future) is a photo exhibition of the work of Ahmet Polat, Fotograaf des Vaderlands (Dutch Photographer of the Year), Stichting voor Vluchteling-Studenten UAF (Foundation for Refugee Students UAF) and Museum Hilversum. The exhibition is about the integration of refugees through study and work. The UAF was founded in 1948. The refugee organization assists refugees in their studies in higher education and their search for a job that suits their abilities. In this way, they can build a new life in Netherlands.

Ahmet Polat has followed 8 refugees for months and recorded their stories in interviews and photos. “I really wanted to think together with the UAF about the effect of imaging in the refugee debate. This whole exhibition is not about pitiful people, but just about people.”

Visitors can put together their own holding folder with pictures and information about the subjects and take it home with them. The expo can also be viewed with an app; the young visitors can look forward to an exciting discovery trip. From September onwards the exhibition is traveling to colleges and universities in the Netherlands.
