Zeeuws Museum x Das Leben am Haverkamp

By 13-12-2018

In the early summer of 2017, the Zeeuws Museum, as instructed by Das Leben am Haverkamp, invites forty of its visitors to give a description of forty randomly selected objects of the museum’s archive. The subjective descriptions of regional costume, jewellery and household goods induce the collective to develop a new collection without ever having seen the original museum objects. With this method Das Leben am Haverkamp creates a bridge between past and future, between knowing and fantasizing, between the image of yourself and that of the other.

“[…] Zeeuws Museum x Das Leben am Haverkamp puts a clever twist on this oral tradition, cognizant of the fact that the exchange of ideas is riddled with interpretations and misunderstandings. They use this process as their trump card; the mechanism of the distorted interpretation is regarded as an opportunity to let the most interesting ideas surface.” – Heske ten Cate & Robin Barry.
