Blue Pottery by Studio Makkink & Bey
These ceramic products combined with marble, woodcarvings and hand paintings, show the diversity of Indian craftsmanship. They are handmade by a small family business in Jaipur (India). Blue Pottery is a type of ceramics that is not made of clay, but of a mix of glass and stone powder and other materials instead of clay. This mix is glazed and fired at a low temperature.
The woodcarving is done by hand with great precision and subtlety. The literal translation of the dancing hands into the woodcarvings creates a magnificent image. In this Blue Pottery series, the stirrer – the long, wooden finger – combines perfectly with the mugs. The marble pieces fit nicely on the Blue Pottery mugs and bowls and can also be used as boards, bowls or coasters.
