Stamps – 50th anniversary of the Dutch Top 40
Stamps designed by Sybren Kuiper, released on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Dutch Top 40.
Sybren: “Per decade I got a list of the three best-selling artists, from which I could choose. To my surprise, artists or groups like, for example, Doe Maar and André Hazes were not among them. I did try, to no avail however, to smuggle Doe Maar in. In the course of the process, the number of possibilities was restricted to the two best-selling artists of a decade. Because of this, ‘Venus’ by Shocking Blue, ‘Liefs uit Londen’ by Bløf, and ‘Hooked on You’ by the Dolly Dots dropped out. The selected numbers are not necessarily the biggest hits of the artists concerned.”
