A Sequence of Operations

By 05-09-2015

Designer Rogier Arents (1987) is interested in science, the transfer of knowledge and the meaning of the image within scientific disciplines. He develops innovative methods of visualisation by doing graphic and interactive research on new digital techniques.

New Window, a platform that gives insight into the making process of art and design, invited Rogier to particpate in ‘One Window #1’. In this project, three artists were asked to develop new works starting with one tool: a screen printing frame, measuring 140 × 100cm.

Rogier contributed a series of prints entitled ‘A Sequence of Operations’. He applied an algorithm, which resulted in a series of fifty unique silk screen prints inspired by the use of color halftoning in screen printing and computer generated images.

The process of developing ‘A Sequence of Operations’, from the first moment of inspiration to the final outcome, is shown online.
