Collectie Veenhuizen
Collectie Veenhuizen is a social-design collection of products and services inspired by the prison village of Veenhuizen. The collection shows past, present and future of a still largely undiscovered Veenhuizen.
Young designers of Design Academy Eindhoven are working on products that tell the story about the past of the former pauper colony, but also delve deep into the daily reality of life in prisons that are still in use.
Participating students: Laura Ferrière and Eleonore Delisse with a reintegration procedure for detainees. Anne Pabon with a bike which, when welded correctly by a detainee, includes all the skills stated in the Tig welding certificate. Thomas Trum with a marker and an alternative ink based on peat from Veenhuizen. Joost Dingemans with garden tools in the metal workshop.
Goof van Beek and Laurentius de Ruiter with a shelving unit that in the unused hours can be made in the workshop. Minsung Wang with a book for non-Dutch speaking visitors of Veenhuizen. Liesje Lokbi with a series of table cloths referring to the strict hierarchy in former Veenhuizen. Malou van Dijck with a cabinet that changes color when the owner takes good care of it and polishes it regularly. Bobby Dekker with the packaging design for the collection.
