Construct Me

By 05-08-2015

ONE WEEK ABOUT Experience Design by curators Trapped in Suburbia

During the Salone del Mobile 2015, Droog Design presented ‘Construct Me’, a series of 210 designs that give screws, brackets, bolts, nails, hinges and other hardware the chance to tell a new story. These functional elements which you usually don’t notice or which are simply invisible, were transformed into eye-catchers. In some cases, they themselves have become more functional, but all of them can add some value, character or story to existing furniture or a common-or-garden job.

For example, there are nails with heads that are larger than normal, which make it less likely for you to hammer on your fingers. Tie wraps that you can use on both sides. There are, at long last, really nice hinges. Deliciously cheerful screws that smile at you. Why boring DIY if it can also be cheerful? Construct Me gives the user the means to get away from that same boring table and that same chair that you’re confronted with in every hip interior.

For Construct Me, Droog received the Best Tech Milano Design Award.
