De Designfactor

By 14-10-2016

Why does one product become a hit and another a flop? The answer is design. Customers are only queuing up for things that are nice and easy. Attractive design is the decisive factor for success.

The chair on which you sit, the veggie burger on your plate, the haircut at your barber, the sound that your car door makes when you slam it shut: everything has been designed consciously. And it works: by now, design has become more important than price, quality or technique.

In De Designfactor, Lucas Verweij reveals how the world around us has been designed. On the basis of known and unknown designs, he explains what design actually is. What does it bring in? Is it always well-intentioned or are we being manipulated? And how can you entice people with attractive products and services?

Lucas Verweij is a design critic. He teaches at home and abroad, advises businesses and writes about design for renowned international design magazines.

The book was presented on 10 October at a meeting of Design Platform Rotterdam.
