Design Column ‘Spaceship Earth’

By 01-03-2016

Design Column is an exhibition series by museum Boijmans van Beuningen, in which current topics are discussed based on progressive designs and works of art. The exhibition presents designs and works of art that make you look at the relevant topic in a new way. This time, the subject is ‘Spaceship Earth’; the column is about the new sustainable balance.

Design Column #12 ‘Spaceship Earth’ presents seven works that will change your views on this new sustainability. Among them are the Tegenlicht television broadcast ‘Het einde van bezit’ (The End of Possession) and new videos by Phoneblok designer Dave Hakkens. There are also two chairs that have been kind of 3D-printed, but this time in a natural way: a Mycelium Chair by Eric Klarenbeek, grown from fungi, and a Full Grown Chair by Gavin Munro, grown directly from trees.
