Dick Moby

By 09-04-2015

Tim Holland and Robbert Wefers-Bettink are the founders of Dick Moby, the Amsterdam indie sunglasses brand. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, they produced their first collection in the summer of 2014.

Being surf fanatics, Tim and Robert had for years been frustrated by the amount of plastic floating around in the sea. The sunglasses by Dick Moby are made of bio-acetate and 10% of the turnover is used to clean up the seas and the beaches. The first collection was sold out in no time and both the leading Parisian department store Colette and the exclusive web shop of Hypebeast purchased the Dutch sunglasses.

Together with the Surfrider Foundation and the American Terra Cycle, last year Dick Moby contributed to an innovative project focused on the production of stylish, high-quality, 100% recycled sunglasses. In addition, they organized as many as 30 beach cleanups, removing 20,000 gallons plastic waste from beaches.

Dick Mody recently launched its second collection: ‘Borders’. This one, too, draws its inspiration from the shapes of classical glasses in which contemporary influences are reflected. Currently, Dick Moby has 80 sales points around the world.
