Eindhoven start-up wins Red Dot Design Award!

By 12-07-2019

Start-Up Rain(a)Way from Eindhoven wins a Red Dot Design Award for its climate proof tile, the Flood Bold (in Germany the Scada Rasenornamet VZ5). On Monday, July 8, they celebrated the victory at the Red Dot Design Gala in Essen. The permeable Flood Bold Tile won the award because of its innovative and sustainable design and its many application possibilities. “The design of The SCADA VZ5 lawn ornament meets high demands in aesthetic quality and is at the same time attractive due to its ecological features” was the opinion of the Red Dot jury.

The winning product, the Flood Bold-tile, makes it possible to green in a new way: as a matter of fact grass or moss can grow in the open spaces. This allows a large amount of rainwater to infiltrate into the soil, which counteracts the flooding of squares and streets. At the same time, the tile provides greening – thereby reducing heat stress and flooding. The tile was designed in 2018 by Fien Dekker in association with the German concrete factory Godelmann and various locations in the Netherlands and Germany are already tiled with it.
