Recently the Amsterdam University Press introduced a series of small books that make knowledge accessible for a broad audience. Experts take you on a journey, where each theme is fully explored in concise form.
Michel van Duyvenbode and Tomas Rouw where asked to create an identity for this series. They named it ‘Elementaire Deeltjes’ (Elementary Particles). In Dutch the word ‘deeltje’ (particle) can also refer to a title within a book series. To underline that these handy booklets offer a quick but complete insight, they created the pay-off: ‘Big topics in pocket size format’.
The simple, iconic design illustrates that the subject is brought back to its core. The colors represent each topic and make every book unique within the distinctive range of books.
The serie ‘Elementaire Deeltjes’ is nominated for the ADCN Lampen Awards 2015 (Art Directors Club Nederland).
