Creative entrepreneur Thijs Biersteker and digital production company MediaMonks teamed up with Fight cancer, a Dutch NGO. They created an interactive punching bag that raises funds every time it is punched. It will travel from gym to gym across the Netherlands in an effort to gather more support for the fight against cancer.
A punchable screen made from over 4000 LEDs displays animations of cancer cells based on the sex, age and lifestyle (from healthy to unhealthy) of the participant. When force is applied, the punching bag lights up locally to visualize the impact of the punch. Joris Pol (MediaMonks): “The punching bag is a powerful metaphor for the fight against cancer, so we wanted it to be able to take the full brunt of people’s punches and power.”
Fight cancer is a charity organization that enables people to set up their own fundraising activities for cancer research. Keep track of the punching bag, donate to the cause, or learn more at www.interactivepunchbag.com.
