Freeze

By 11-11-2014

“Show that everything can be done differently,” that’s the aim that Pieke Bergmans has set herself in her work. A selection from her young and surprising oeuvre can be seen in the exhibition ‘Freeze – Pieke Bergmans Design’ in the Noordbrabants Museum in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

In 2006, Pieke Bergmans (1978, Sprang-Capelle) made her breakthrough with her series Crystal Virus. Characteristic for her way of working is the manipulation and expansion of existing production techniques to achieve new forms. The outcome are series in which each object is unique.

Pieke Bergmans studied graphic design at AKV/St. Joost in Breda, 3D-design at ArtEZ in Arnhem, industrial design at Design Academy in Eindhoven and product design at the Royal College of Art in London. After her studies, she opened her own studio in Amsterdam and Milan; she also has a workshop in Tilburg.

Especially for the exhibition, filmmaker Pieter van Huystee made three short films about Pieke Bergmans’ working method. Furthermore, the exhibition will be accompanied by a free guidebook on the work and the working method of Pieke Bergmans.
