Het koffietafelboek

By 08-12-2014

The book ‘Het koffietafelboek van Thé Tjong-Khing’ has recently published. It has been compiled by Thé Tjong-Khing himself and contains not only his favorite drawings but also the various sketching phases of these drawings.

Cartoonist and illustrator Thé Tjong-Khing (1933) was born in the former Dutch East Indies and studied at the Art Academy in Bandung. He came to the Netherlands in 1956 and soon began working as a draughtsman at Toonder Studios. Under his own name he published the science fiction strip ‘Arman & Ilva’. In 1970, he became a freelance illustrator and began illustrating children’s books. Thé won the Gouden Penseel (Golden Brush) three times and in 2005 he also won the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs for his book ‘Waar is de taart?’ (Where is the cake?). In 2010, he was awarded the Max Velthuijsprijs for his entire oeuvre.

The first edition of ‘Het koffietafelboek van Thé Tjong-Khing’ comprises 450 copies, all numbered and personally signed by Thé Tjong-Khing (there will be no reprint). All 120 pages are in full color and in a large format: 330 x 250 mm.
