Hollands Deep and 1-2-3-4

By 29-04-2015

This year is Anton Corbijn’s sixtieth birthday, a good reason for the Gemeentemuseum and the Museum of Photography in The Hague to organise the most complete overview of his work to date.

In ‘Hollands Deep’ the Gemeentemuseum shows how over the last forty years Corbijn has evolved from a music fan to a successful photographer and a versatile artist. In ‘1-2-3-4’ the adjacent Museum of Photography shows photographs of bands and musicians with whom Corbijn has been working with, highlighting the relationship between the photographer and music world. The creative and opinionated way in which Anton Corbijn has captured artists since the seventies has become his trademark. In his photographs he manages to unmask the people portrayed so we get to see another side of them. He is able to make successful portraits often in a short period of time.
