In 20 Steps

By 31-08-2015

Studio Drift is part of the group exhibition ‘Glasstress 2015 Gotika’ during the Venice Biennale 2015. They present their new site-specific installation ‘In 20 Steps’.

Glasstress Gotika is a joint project of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and Berengo Studio in Venice. The exhibition combines historical medieval glass and objects from the Hermitage’s collection that have rarely been seen by the public and contemporary art works created in glass by internationally renowned artists. The artists were invited to work with the glass masters in the furnaces of Murano and to respond to the gothic concept in their creations in glass.

Studio Drift’s ‘In 20 Steps’ is a spatial, kinetic installation, constructed from 40 glass wings that represent the different steps of flying in an abstract way. It is a tribute to the human desire to fly despite the force of gravity.
