Interactive installation for NYCxDESIGN

By 19-12-2015

At the invitation of Dutch Culture USA, audiovisual design agency Circus Family created an interactive installation for the New York Design Week, NYCxDESIGN.

The installation consisted of 40 homemade LED light tubes, each with a row of 80 LED lights – a total of 3200 individually controllable pixels. The installation was controlled through a proprietary controller and software. Audio frequencies were linked to specially designed animations.

During the day, visitors could manipulate animations in the installation: through clapping their hands or jumping up and down, movement, color, clarity and design of the animation changed. In the evening, the animation was linked to the audio frequencies of the DJ.

Later on, the software has also been used for the visuals of Yellow Claw during EDC in Las Vegas and the MMMM party of Massive Music and MediaMonks in Cannes.
