The BNO Packaging Talent Award is a competition for young designers (graduated in or after 2013) and design students. On the basis of a briefing, a design solution is requested for a Food and a Non-Food packaging. In 2015 Koopeenkoe.nl and Philips have provided a briefing.

Koopeenkoe.nl is an online ‘crowd-butching’ initiative. In its briefing, it requested a redesign of the main packaging parts of the packet with meat products that the company delivers at the customers.

The first prize went to Sabine Krouwer (Grafisch Media Instituut Design School, graduation year 2015). The jury: “A design with a premium look. Everything looks fantastic: the recipe booklet with the thank-you letter, the closing seal, the convenient color coding, clear information on the label, etc.”

The second prize was for Maaike Fecken (product designs Artez, graduation year 2013). The jury: “Maaike has created an attractive image with effects that resemble a branding iron. Details in the design are personal (ear tag number, the butcher’s signature, etc.) and the labelling is clear.”

Honorable mentions: Jennifer Vernaeve (St. Lucas Gent, graduation year 2015), Eva Welten (student Nimeto in Utrecht) and Laura Voet (student AKV|St. Joost, Den Bosch).
