Jurriaan Schrofer

By 22-10-2014

Graphic designer Jurriaan Schrofer (1926-1990) has strongly determined the profession after 1945. He practiced All genres, from PR-printing to corporate identities and photo books, and from magazines to advertising, fonts and spatial work. With his adventurous streak, his slightly dissident attitude and his intellectual mindset, Schrofer provoked discussion. Experimenting with spatiality on flat surfaces, letters and characters, his work anticipates the possibilities of the computer.

On 23 October, Frederike Huygen, author of the great monograph on Schrofer, gives a lecture about his work following the publication of the book with Schrofer’s sketches published by Lecturis. It is quite extraordinary that so many magnificent sketches and drawings have been preserved. The book also contains a short essay and documentation about the design and printing process in the pre-digital era.

Van Abbemuseum, 23 October, starting 16 hrs. As part of Dutch Design Week Eindhoven.

Lecturis offers
