New Horizons

By 17-09-2015

The images in the book ‘New Horizons’ were collected in the year 2012 by an ingenious machine designed by artist Bruno van den Elshout. The installation with windscreen wiper, spraying system and heating photographed the horizon for a whole year from the roof of Hotel NH Atlantic in The Hague, every full hour of the day – 8785 times in all.

Graphic designer Rob van Hoesel in cooperation with Van den Elshout brought together a selection of 300 images in New Horizons. This work of art in book form was made possible by 700 book lovers who signed up for the book in advance and in doing so made the expensive production possible. The once-only edition of the book comprised 2012 numbered copies.

New Horizons has been nominated for the Dutch Design Awards, having previously been awarded, among other awards, a European Design Award and a bronze medal at the Schönsten Bücher aus aller Welt.
