New visual identity Robstolk

By 02-03-2015

Robstolk, first class printing company from Amsterdam, commissioned graphic design studio Mind Design to develop a new visual identity that would be recognizable across different types of media.

Starting point was to include into the design elements which would showcase the quality standards of the printer. Hence, Mind Design’s proposal of implementing the color control bars and challenging the commissioner with a sophisticated overprint technique. The design was developed in collaboration with Gilles de Brock and introduced in late 2014.

The result is a kaleidoscopic pattern created by a computer algorithm that assembles a number of shapes and colors into a grid of unique cells with various sizes. All the individual shapes and styles derive from numerous medieval shield patterns and were carefully adapted to match the scaling. Finally, the overprint process brings the design to life by delivering deeply saturated colors, truly demonstrating the unique printing quality.
