Other Evidence: Blindfold

By 08-03-2016

From almost 600 entries from 32 countries, the international jury of Schönste Bücher aus aller Welt has granted four awards to the Dutch-Flemish selection of the Best Dutch Books Designs of 2015. One of the awards is the main prize, the Gouden Letter (Golden Letter), which goes to ‘Other Evidence: Blindfold’, designed and published by Titus Knegtel. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 18 March during the Leipziger Buchmesse.

On 11 July 2015, it was 20 years ago that the genocidal massacre around Srebrenica began. The horrific event induced graphic designer Titus Knegtel to create a book with which he graduated from AKV|St. Joost last year. It is a monument for the people that died during and after the fall of Srebrenica.

Titus Knegtel: “The book aims to consider the event in the most objective manner possible. The texts are mainly transcripts of testimonies in the court cases. Also in the design itself, we have guarded against imposing emotions on the reader. It has primarily been a research into the way in which an event like this can be brought as close as possible.”
