Parra

By 25-03-2015

The world of the Dutch artist Parra (Pieter Janssen, 1976) contains hybrid and bizarre figures with bird heads and sensual bodies, combined with texts that range from sarcastic to nonsensical. The Kunsthal in Rotterdam is dedicating an exhibition to his work.

Parra is a creative image maker who designs ‘special editions’ for established brands worldwide and exhibits his work on an international scale. Coming from the underground and skateboard scene, he began drawing his designs. On the basis of his personal fascinations, Parra has developed a unique personal signature. Thanks to their powerful imagery, his illustrations are making a lasting impression in the digital era.

The exhibition in the Kunsthal highlights the versatility of his work. Besides flyers, record sleeves, sneakers, skateboards and posters, also works on canvas and fabric designs are on display. Especially for this exhibition, Parra has made a mural of 25 by 6 meters in Hall 3.
