PLASTIC

By 31-01-2015

Het Nieuwe Instituut presents with ‘PLASTIC. Promises of a Home-Made Future’ a critical program about plastic and 3D printing. The accompanying exhibition can be viewed in Het Nieuwe Instituut from January 16 through April 6, 2015.

3D printing is seen as the ultimate promise of the Do It Yourself culture. With ‘PLASTIC’, Het Nieuwe Instituut highlights the perspectives of commercial, political and artistic players. The exhibition takes the form of a 3D documentary in which the visitor learns about the significance and history of plastic through videos and objects. In the run-up to the opening and during the exhibition, Het Nieuwe Instituut organizes a series of lectures.

The contemporary world is characterized by radical technological, economic, cultural and social changes. Het Nieuwe Instituut will, in a networked way together with architects, designers, artists, creators and entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions and cultural organizations, map, visualize, question, and share this rapidly changing world.
