Popcorn Monsoon

By 06-06-2015

Product designer Jolene Carlier recently graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven, Activity Department.

Jolene: “I made the drawings which started the Popcorn Monsoon project to create a world of pure imagination that still makes sense in this one. Starting with shapes and colours makes the design process playful. A surprising yet suitable function can be found later on.”

“Popcorn Monsoon is an example of this process. I translated a drawing into a popcorn machine. Like any other functional product it had to be conceptualised and constructively thought through. Most popcorn machines are dull, but the making popcorn is exciting. That is what this machine is meant to amplify. It’s fun for both children and adults.”
