Public Library: the most beautiful graphic novels

By 01-10-2015

ONE WEEK ABOUT Graphic Design Festival Breda by GDFB

Graphic designers anonymous and subservient? On the contrary! More and more often they use (personal) stories to capture the imagination. As authors of graphic novels, they combine literature and image in an idiosyncratic way. During the Graphic Design Festival Breda, you will find the most beautiful graphic novels in mini-libraries scattered throughout the city.

You will find the special GDFB ‘mini-biebs’ (mini-libraries) located at various public places all over the city. Each library contains a unique collection of graphic novels that you can read right on the spot. Books by young Dutch talent and international celebrities show why this genre is becoming increasingly popular.

Nanne Meulendijks is a young illustrator who, on her own initiative, made a graphic novel in the spirit of ‘De wake’, the collection of short stories written by Ronald Giphart (Podium Publishers). Other graphic novels that can be viewed during Graphic Design Festival Breda are made by: Jan Cleijne, Typex, Robert Crump, Robert van Raffe, Richard McGuire, Aimee de Jongh, Nanne Meulendijks, Peter Pontiac, Emphameron, Riad Sattouf, Chris Ware and Victor Hussenot.
